Fly removal service
Flies are mostly unsightly and annoying when they are in large numbers. But they are also known to transmit pathogens such as Salmonella and E. coli. Cross-contamination is especially of concern for food premises.
Not taking care of a fly problem early enough could turn into a serious issue that could have detrimental consequences. So it is important to choose the method of fly removal that will be most suited to your premises.
What is the cost of pest control for flies?
Inoculand Ltd provides fly control in London from £129+VAT for residential properties as well as commercial premises. The most common London flies pest control issues are down to fruit flies and blue bottle flies.
However there are many more types of flies such as drain flies and cluster flies that could affect your home. We can help you identify what is at the heart of the fly infestation and offer long term solutions.
How does the fly treatment work?
The difficulty with flies is that you need to treat extensively the space that is affected. As a first step we would spray residual insecticides on the surfaces where they normally rest. That would not only kill off whatever was directly sprayed, but also offer a lasting effect that will prevent flies from building up for several weeks.
Then depending on species and conditions, we can also carry out a fogging treatment that will reach flies anywhere they may hide and knock them down instantly. ULV treatments are very intrusive as the fog will diffuse throughout the room. Therefore it is paramount that all foods should be stored in sealed containers, and that all utensils and kitchenware should be washed afterwards.
How we get rid of flies
Each fly species have their own preferences and biology. We can thus look back at where they may be coming from initially, and/or if there are any conditions that are favourable to their development. Once you have identified the key aspects contributing to the fly infestation, then we can look into what can be implemented to mitigate them. Besides using pesticides-based fly control methods and traps, a major effort needs to be implemented to eliminate suitable breeding sites.
Fruit Fly Control
We receive complaints from both the residential and commercial sector, but the scenarios and solutions vary dramatically. More often than not, when a tenant reports fruit flies in their home it will be linked to overripe fruit, old vegetables going off or the kitchen trash can. Then the solution is to have a better food turn over routine, and to take the rubbish out daily and replace the bin bag. Often, homes that rely on organic food from the street market tend to have more of an issue. Sometimes the issue is also exacerbated by a poor cleaning routine.
House Fly Control
In food handling establishments, flies can contaminate food and also put off your customers. Adult flies will be looking for human foods and never be far from their breeding sites. They are often seen as an opportunistic intruder, best kept out using fly mesh and dealt with using an electronic fly killer.
Blue Bottle Fly Control
In London, fly treatments are often required following a sudden outbreak of Blue Bottle flies within a property. The treatment knock them down in an ongoing fashion that will kill them as they enter the living space. Basically instead of having 100 flies flying around erratically, you have 100 flies dead on the floor. It is far from
being a perfect solution but it allows the tenants to make use of the affected area.
In can be quite dramatic as a room can have 50-100 flies at once without apparent reason. The reality behind it can be quite grim. Blue bottle flies often lay eggs in dead rodents, pigeons or other dead animals that may be found deep underneath the building, or possibly much closer underneath some floor boards or within a shaft. In other instances it can be linked to a rubbish bag that had been left unattended for too long.
Drain fly control
Also known as filter and sewage flies, they will often breed on decaying organic matter such as raw sewage and will need standing water to breed. They are often linked to a damaged drain pipe, possibly a back surge, or grease/grime built up inside the drain. In some instances, drain jetting can be carried out. But the simple use of a suitable floor and drain cleaner on a regular basis can be as efficient.
Commercial fly issues
Most of the commercial fly control in London we do takes place in restaurants and bars. Every business is unique and so is the fly infestation affecting them. So there is no universal fly control program that can be implemented in all cases. Our pest control technicians have the tools and experience to choose the right strategy for you. To be an effective pest management process, it will need to be ongoing.
Other commercial premises that do not deal with food, such as offices and retail units, can also suffer from a fly pest control issue. The answer can be linked to food such as a banana being left inside drawers by an employee, or leftovers being left for too long inside the bins. Sometimes the fly infestation is linked to the surrounding area. The best strategy is starting with encouraging all employees to change their habits, remove food sources and use sanitation. From there, chemical remediation can be implemented as a last resort. A professional fly exterminator would hence apply a residual (spray) and eventually a non-residual (fogging) treatment.
