Inoculand can treat your home for any type of ants for a flat fee of £109+vat using top of the range Maxforce Quantum gel technology. The gel stays active for up to three months and offers you maximum protection. This is why a one off visit is enough. Still ou service is guaranteed for maximum peace of mind.
The gel has a honey like feels and can be applied to a number of surfaces or cracks where ants are active. It hence triggers a domino effect killing the colony’s brood and queens. Within days you will notice a visible reduction. It is much superior to any spray or powder because instead of killing the ants, it kills the queens that make the eggs and thus allow complete control of the problem.
Why get rid of ants?
Ants in London will not pause a huge threat to your health. They won’t transmit diseases and they won’t cause you direct harm either. One of the issues that are associated with ants is cross contamination. They would walk on something nasty, and later walk on your food and surfaces and possibly cause bacterial contamination.
So why considering an ant treatment? Well ants infestations normally would only get stronger as the nest increase in size. We normally think of ant infestations being more active during spring/summer time and being quiet/dormant during winter. Also we know ants being mostly a seasonal problem that will start over again the following year, just stronger and in larger numbers. This is mostly true of Black Garden Ants that tend to nest outside and that can be eliminated easily enough.
Normally most of the people wants them gone because they are annoying and that food covered by them will eventually end up in the bin wasted. And here is the difficulty. Getting rid of an ant infestation is not the same as killing ants.
London ant pest control service
Our ant extermination service is very convenient for the client. The gel formulation allows us to carry out the ant treatment without soiling the surrounding and without emitting any fumes. There is no need for the residents to vacate the property, no need to clean all the work surfaces after us.
The gel is highly viscous, quite colourless and odourless. Yet it remains slightly hazardous if absorbed through skin and can cause moderate eye irritation. Therefore special care needs to be taken to prevent pets and children tempering with it. Normally the gel is placed in cracks and at skirting board level and it is easy to avoid contact. Once the ant eradication is completed or whenever appropriate, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
Most people would spray ants with an insecticide can. They actually kill of the ants, but in the background the queens are just making up more eggs to replenish the numbers. When the insecticidal effect goes down, ants would start appearing again. Using Maxforce Quantum gel avoid just that. The problem is the nest, the problem is the queens. Like all things we better cure the disease than simply treat endlessly the symptoms. The best ant eradication service is the one that kill off the queens that are at the heart of the problem.
Typical London ant problems
Most Londoner will only ever see the common black ant species. They do not really pause any health threats and do not carry pathogens. At best they will cause cross-contamination. And most of the time we can find the nest being just off the outer wall adjacent to the rooms that are being infested. Exceptionally, we find the nest inside the home, underneath the shower base or inside the masonry.
However one of the biggest issue that we are facing is down to tropical ant species that are mostly affecting purpose built flats, but can as easily been introduced in any type of home as tenants move from one address to the next. These ants can be carrier of pathogens and therefore could have an impact on your health.
The most common tropical ant infestation in London is possibly with Pharaoh ants. They are so small you would not think much of them to start with. But soon they will build up in numbers and create new satellite nests and spread further and throughout the building. In the old days the pest control industry relied on boric acid bait. The dry bait dispensers were very convenient to use but did not work brilliantly. The fresh liver bait was very troublesome to work with and would dry very quickly. Spraying would just end up making things worse.
Another common London ant control problem is linked to Ghost ants. Simply put since the ant gel technology has been developed, it has become that much easier to manage them all.
How to get rid of ant infestations
There are a lot of DIY approach that in most case will go a long way. Cleaning and restrict food access to ants is the most difficult and time consuming approach. It will not avoid the occasional scout ant but at least they won’t find a thing of interest. Also storing food stuff in air tight containers/bag will goes in the same direction.
Physically destroying the ant nest would suggest first to locate it. Sometime it is obvious and at other time we are not sure what we are looking for. At Inoculand Ltd, the pest exterminator often follows the outer walls of the property and scratch the base of the walls with a screw driver. Every now and again you suddenly notice a burst of ant activity. There is the an entry to the garden ant hive.
From there you may use your kettle and pour boiling water in. One off time will not be good enough. The water will cool down rapidly as it goes in. So repeat the operation as many time as required? possibly 4-6 times for a very large nest? Alternatively you can place Ant powder at the entry point but the effect of the powder will go down rapidly because of the sun light and the rain. Since you cannot force the dust deep inside the nest, you may have to re-apply the dust in the nest is still active after 4 days.
For all the other scenarios where you see the ants inside your home bothering you, but can’t identify the nest, then you will probably need a professional using Maxforce Quantum ant gel. There are also much cheaper brands and even some DIY ant gels that can be bought from supermarkets. But they can be disappointing and a waste of money.
One thing I would say is do not use any crawling insect killer can spray to treat for ants infestations in London. Ant proofing is impractical to say the least and ant repellents would probably work locally well enough as keeping them out of a particular drawer or cupboard for example.
How to get rid of flying ants
Most of the treatment for flying ants in London that we carried out where down to a sudden burst of activity coming from the corner of a room at skirting board level. This is a sign that ants are likely to be nesting in the wall cavity.
It is very impressive as suddenly you can have hundreds of large winged ants coming out and tenants often had not noticed any ant problem before hand. Flying ants are but one particular type of the same species designed for breeding.
Over time, there will be every so often a burst of flying ants so new queens can be created. By the time the pest controller arrives the burst will have gone down leaving dead ants dead on the floor. The issue here will be once again to take care of the nest before the next swarm takes place.
So regardless you spray the flying ants or apply ant powder on top of them, you will most likely have to place gel there too so the workers can take it back to the nest and have the cascade effect sorting everything out for you.
