Daniel Neves, Head Biologist
Biology-led pest control advice for London homes and businesses
I am the Head Biologist at Inoculand. I stay closely involved in how we work, how we train, and how we deliver pest control across London.
My background is in biology and public health. Over the years, I have built Inoculand around a simple principle: clients should receive careful, consistent work that gives proper value for money.
I was born in France and came to the UK in 1998 to improve my English. I later continued my studies and completed a Biology BSc (Hons) at the University of Edinburgh.
That journey taught me resilience early on. I had to adapt, work hard and build things step by step. That approach has stayed with me throughout my career.
Before founding Inoculand, I worked in environmental health at the London Borough of Lambeth. That role gave me a strong grounding in public health and pest control.
It also showed me how inconsistent the industry could be. I saw cases where work was only partly completed, standards varied between operatives, and clients paid again for problems that had not been properly resolved.
Biology, public health and practical pest control experience
My route into pest control did not come from sales or marketing. It came from biology, environmental health and practical problem solving.
Over time, I became frustrated by short-term fixes, poor proofing work and inconsistent service. Many clients had to accept work that did not deal with the cause of the problem.
That was one of the main reasons I created Inoculand. I wanted to build a company that focused on thorough work, not superficial treatment. I also wanted clients to receive lasting value, rather than repeat visits for the same unresolved issue.
For me, pest control should not be about doing the minimum needed to complete a visit. It should be about understanding why the problem is happening, dealing with it properly, and reducing the chance of it returning.
That still guides the business today. We look carefully at the details, keep our methods consistent, and aim to carry out work that stands up over time.
What shapes the Inoculand approach?
The main difference, in my view, is not that we offer services others do not. It is the standard behind the work.
I have always cared about value for money. I have seen what happens when clients pay more than once for incomplete solutions. Proper proofing, clear recommendations and consistent follow-through matter more than impressive wording.
Inoculand works across a wide range of pest issues. The approach stays the same: understand the cause, explain the limits, and carry out the work properly.
That applies whether we are dealing with mice control, bed bug treatment, or more complex work for landlords, agents and businesses that need ongoing support.
Field work still forms part of my role, usually around three days a month. When needed, I borrow a van from one of my colleagues and work through a technician rota.
This keeps me close to the practical side of pest control. It also gives me regular contact with real site conditions, client concerns and technician standards.
On those visits, I can meet clients, review standards, revisit previous jobs, and spot areas where we can improve.
It also keeps me close to what happens on site. I can meet clients, review standards, revisit previous jobs, and spot areas where we can improve.
That direct contact matters to me. Good management should not become detached from the work itself.
Local knowledge of London pest control
London creates its own pest control challenges. Building age, dense housing, food businesses, management companies and changing occupancy patterns all affect how infestations develop.
My work has always been shaped by that reality. Pest control solutions need to be practical, proportionate and suited to the property in front of us. They should not be copied mechanically from one case to another.
That is one reason we work with both residential and commercial pest control clients.
The environments are different, but the standards should be the same: careful assessment, consistent workmanship, honest advice and a focus on long-term results.
Continuous learning and improvement
Training plays a major role in how I run Inoculand. We look first for the right attitude. Skills can be taught, but judgment, reliability and care are harder to create.
Many team members train from scratch. Before they work alone, they need to reach the right standard and gain their Level 2 certification. From there, we support further development, including RSPH Level 3 and other useful skills where relevant.
I see training as part of quality control. The more consistent the training, the more consistent the service.
That benefits clients, reduces avoidable mistakes, and helps us improve steadily instead of only reacting when something goes wrong.
I am fortunate to have a strong team around me. They handle the day-to-day work efficiently, so only certain troubleshooting matters now come directly to me.
That gives me more time to improve systems, refine standards and develop the business, without losing touch with the field.
Client feedback and external mentions
I prefer to let the work speak for itself.
Inoculand has received positive client feedback through platforms such as Checkatrade. The company has also been mentioned in press coverage, including The Times, in connection with a client case involving moth activity in a property.
Standards, consistency and follow-through
The way I see it, pest control should be straightforward in principle, even when the work itself is demanding.
Clients should receive honest advice, clear expectations and thorough work. They should not be pushed toward unnecessary repeat spending because something was left incomplete the first time.
That is why Inoculand places so much emphasis on standards, proofing, consistency and training.
We are not interested in sounding impressive for its own sake. We are interested in doing the job properly and improving the way we work.
Why choose Inoculand?
If you are choosing a pest control company, the claim of expertise matters less than the standard behind the work.
My goal with Inoculand has always been to build a company that combines biological understanding, public-health awareness and practical field experience.
I still stay hands-on, review the work closely, and believe that proper pest control depends on doing the fundamentals well.
If you would like to learn more about our approach or discuss a pest issue, you can contact Inoculand directly.
